Sant Tukaram

Please understand that this temporary/impermanent body will surely be lost, so please chant name of the Lord.
God's name has delivered billions of people previously, and it is the one which will put you into the Vaikunth (abode of Lord Vishnu).
There's no other thing in the three worlds which is comparable to the name of the Lord, why don't you rememer that name in your mind.
Tuka says, God's name is even difficult to understand for Vedas, Lord Krishna (Gopal) has given it for free.

Sant Tukaram

Lord, its very good that I got bankrupt, it is good that this draught brought about lot of pain. During all this pain, I was always thinking about you, thus whole material world became like a vomit to me (it became as callous to me as vomit).
Lord, it is good that my wife is always shouting at me, it is good that I face predicament in the society.
It is good that I was insulted by the society, its nice that I lost all my money and domestic animals.
I did this good thing by not thinking about what people will say and I surrendered to you.
Its good that I worshipped you and did not pay much attention to my wife and children.
Tuka says, I did well to do Ekadashi fast and Jagaran (staying up all night, singing/listening about Lord).

Surrender - Gandhi

I must go. . . with God as my only guide. He is a jealous Lord. He will allow no one to share His authority. One has, therefore, to appear before Him in all one’s weakness, empty-handed and in a spirit of full surrender, and then He enables you to stand before a whole world and protects you from all harm.

Not until we have reduced ourselves to nothingness can we conquer the evil in us. God demands nothing less than complete self-surrender as the price for the only real freedom that is worth having. And when a man thus loses himself he immediately finds himself in the service of all that lives. It becomes his delight and his recreation. He is a new man, never weary of spending himself in the service of God’s creation.

Wear and tear - Gandhi

Those who believe in God’s guidance just do the best they can and never
worry. The sun has never been known to suffer from over-strain and yet who
slaves with such unexampled regularity as he ! And why should we think that
the sun is inanimate? The difference between him and us may be that
he has no choice, we have a margin, no matter how precarious it may
be. But no more speculation of this sort. Suffice it for us that we
have his brilliant example in the matter of tireless energy. If we
completely surrender to His will and really become ciphers, we too
voluntarily give up the right of choice and then we need no wear
and tear.

Let me be lazy with the sense pleasures and empower me with your name.
I request you again and again, please accept.
Let me sing loudly when I'm singing you (your qualities), let me be mute otherwise.
Let me have eyes (vision) when I'm seeing you, let me be blind otherwise.

Sant Tukaram

Yogis try hard to realize him through meditations and He is here, standing in front of us.
He is standing here with both his hands beautifully placed onto his waist. He has dark blue/black complexion .
He occupies everything that exists and is still different from everything. He is present inside everyone and is still without any shape.
He does not have any form, name etc and Lord Shiva is always meditating Him.
He does not have any beginning or end, does not have any color, caste, creed, hands or legs.
And Tuka says, such almighty Lord has taken a form, for the pleasure of His devotees and for his own Lila.

This abhang is a prayer to Lord Vitthal.
So simple, so beautiful !

He prays - let me forget (everything about)this body. (It is good that) now I have understood that only then will I be really happy. Let all my senses/all actions/my mind be focused towards your feet (Let them not be deflected by anything else). Please break all my relations with hope (expectation), fear, worries, shyness, lust, anger. There is only one request now, let me always remember your name and let me always be in the company of saints (sadhoos, nice people). Tuka says - let my service be with pure devotion, let there not be any hypocrisy(वरपंग ? not sure of this) in it.
